10 Domains Blocked by Trend Micro

Visit Trend Micro and you might be able to tell which domains are being blocked by their software because of serious viral infestations found on those domains.  For those who do not know what a domain is; it’s merely the name of a site; such as blogsmart dot net is a domain name.  Anybody can buy a domain and anybody can acquire a server provider (someone who rents you space for your website) but there is no actual way to find out beforehand, which domains are more likely to put a virus on your computer by just visiting them.  However, many of the top antivirus program sites do have either domain/site blocking that will protect you.  Visit one to find out; Norton.com, Symantec.com, TrendMicro.com, and a new one that I recommend, Vipre.com.

Laptop or Desktop?

My sister asked me a couple of days ago about whether or not she could get something that would give her internet on her laptop so she would have service driving down the road, or visiting the second home that she and her husband recently purchased.   Of course I said yes.  I’ve been noticing these connection devices while browsing around in Radio Shack and have also seen them at AT&T.  My husband sells them at his job at an auto parts store!  No matter where you get one from, they all seem to run about the same price.  Since desktop computers are so much larger than a laptop, she elected to get a laptop to use at her new home.  And we can’t easily take our desktops with us, so laptops make sense.

$3.95 Flash Drives

I saw where you can get a Lexar flash drive for just $3.95.  That boggles the mind, especially since I paid $20 for my 4gig flash drive.  But if you need a Custom flash drive then catch yourself because business can get them for as cheap as this, and get advertising to boot.  I especially like the $18.95 MP3 player, wow.  Makes me wish I were a business.

Where to Get the Cheapest Computer

Maybe you want a new computer because yours is so outdated, or maybe you don’t have one at all.  Instead of looking for places to get credit from when yours is bad, why not buy the kit and put it together yourself?  From experience, I can tell you that it is easy as pie to build a computer.  You buy the kit, which includes the box, the motherboard, the cpu and graphics card, a fan, dvd rom, keyboard and mouse.  It does not include a monitor, however those have become so cheap that you could purchase a 22″ flat screen monitor for around $200.00.  You can buy one of these at Easy as My PC dot com, cheapest price about $399.  They include plain easy to understand instructions with plenty of pictures before, during and after the installation.  And this requires only a screwdriver.  But what you must realize about a kit such as this is that no software will come installed on it.  This means that you must buy your OS of choice and install it.  Installation of software is simply a matter of inserting the dvd and following the on-screen directions.  Having built my own computer systems, I can readily recommend this route for those wishing to save money.

Laptop Computers

I’m thinking about finally breaking down and purchasing a laptop computer for myself but I’m curious as to what kind of laptop is the most widely used.  What kind do you have and what do you like or dislike about it?  Do you recommend it for others?  Was the price high, low or good and cheap?  Does your battery last the way you’d like?  How easy is it to use?

Please do a comment and let me know your answers.  It will really help me to make a decision on which laptop I might buy for myself.   Thanks!

Grandma buys laptop

I just went out yesterday and bought my 12yo granddaughter her own laptop computer. This is not just a quick and easy purchase, I did a lot of research before ever making up my mind where to buy one. I bought it from Wal-Mart after all of that. And I got her an Acer Aspire.

I’m a desktop person, not a laptop person. I can build a desktop any way you want it, easily. But laptops are beyond my knowledge. I know how to install and uninstall programs and basically anything that goes on a desktop. Read the rest of this entry »
